Deforestation is the act of clearing Earth’s forests on a massive scale. While it is helpful and somewhat necessary for the growth of the human population, it often results in damage to the quality of the land. Forests still cover around thirty percent of the Earth’s surface, but swaths of forests half the size of England are removed every year for agricultural use and human needs. But as people take away from the Earth’s natural forests to only help ourselves, we are also unknowingly hurting ourselves at the same time. Deforestation has unintended consequences on humanity, and can impact billions of people and animals worldwide. Deforestation causes many problems, and if we don’t change our habits soon, we will begin the feel the effects of those problems.
